Frédéric Girard
is Directeur d'études at the École française d'Extrême-Orient. He specializes in Japanese religious and philosophical thought with, with a special focus on Buddhist philosophy. He is the author of Un moine de la secte Kegon à l'époque de Kamakura (1185-1333): Myôe (1173-1232) et le Journal de ses rêves (EFEO, 1990: Shibusawa-Claudel Prize, 1992) and of The Stanza of the Bell in the Wind : Zen and Nenbutsu in the Early Kamakura Period (International College for Postgraduate Buddhist Studies, 2007).
