Stephen F. Teiser

is D.T. Suzuki Professor in Buddhist Studies and Professor of Religion at Princeton University. He utilizes textual and artistic sources to analyze the interaction between Buddhism as a pan-Asian tradition and the local forms of Chinese religious life. His current research focuses on medieval Buddhist liturgies contained in the Dunhuang manuscripts. His recent publications include Reinventing the Wheel: Paintings of Rebirth in Medieval Buddhist Temples (zoo 6, awarded the Prix Stanislas Julien) and two co-edited books, Readings of the Lotus Siitra (2009) and Readings of the Platform Sutra (2012).
