John R. McRAE

Associate Professor of East Asian Religions at Cornell University. He has published The Northern School and the Formation of Early Chinese Ch'an Buddhism (University of Hawaii Press, 1986) and is almost finished with a companion volume, Evangelical Zen: Shen-hui (684-758), Sudden Enlightenment, and the Southern School of Chinese Ch'an Buddhism. He is also Co-chair of the Buddhism Section of the American Academy of Religion and Director of the Chinese-Japanese-Korean Computing and Database Facility at the East Asia Program, Cornell University.
