William BODIFORD
is Professor of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the editor of Going Forth: Visions of Buddhist Vinaya (University of Hawaii Press, 2005), associate editor of Encyclopedia of Buddhism (MacMillan Reference USA, 2004), and author of Sôtô Zen in Medieval Japan (University of Hawaii Press, 1993) as well as of numerous articles and essays on Japanese religions.
