Allan G. Grapard
is a Research Professor affiliated to the University of California- Santa Barbara. He is the author oïKûkai : la vérité finale des trois enseignements (Le Mail, 1985) and of The Protocol of the Gods (University of California Press, 1992: awarded the Lilienthal Award and the Berkeley Award). Another book, Mountain Mandatas, is forthcoming from Stanford University Press. He has also published many articles in professional journals. He divides his time between cultivating his tropical garden and writing his next book on food offerings in Japanese shrines and temples.
