About - SHIUNG Chung-ching

Shiung Chung-ching 熊徶簉 is Associate Professor at the Institute of Archaeology and Director of the Center for Multicultural Studies at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan. His research focuses primarily on the cultural dynamics of the spice trade in Maluku, Indonesia, explored through archaeological fieldwork. Dr. Shiung also conducts studies in Taiwan and southern China. He has published a book on the transformation of earthenware production in the Banda Islands and several articles on the history of the clove trade and the landscapes of Tidore Island in North Maluku. His work provides insights into historical trade networks and cross-cultural interactions in the region.
