About - XU Pingfang
Xu Pingfang
is a Fellow and former Director (1988-1993) of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in Beijing. His main research interests are ancient Chinese urban archaeology, the bamboo tablets of the Han period, and the archaeology of the Silk Road and of the Song and Yuan periods. Professor Xu has published widely in all of these and other areas of Chinese cultural history.
