Glen Dudbridge
is Shaw Professor of Chinese at the University of Oxford, Fellow of University College, Oxford, and Fellow of the British Academy. He was trained at the University of Cambridge and the New Asia Research Institute, Hong Kong. Among his main publications are The Hsi-yu chi (1970J, The Legend ofMiao-shan (1978; Chinese edition, 1990), The Tale of Li Wa (1983), and Religious Experience and Lay Society in Yang China (1995). Forthcoming in Taiwan is a critical reconstruction of the Tang historical text Sanguo dian liie (in collaboration with Zhao Chao). His current research interest is historical bibliography
