Yamashita Katsuaki
is a researcher at the Institute of Oriental culture at Daitô bunka University (Daitô bunka daigaku Tôyô kenkyû-jo kennin kenkyû-in). His publications include Heian jidai no shûkyô bunka to Onmyôdô [Religious culture and Onmyôdô in the Heian period] (Tokyo, Iwata shoin, 1996); Onmyôdô no hakken [Discovery of Onmyôdô] (Tôkyô, NHK shuppan, 2010.) His interest is focused on the relationship between the magical culture (jutsusû bunka) in China and Japanese astronomy, calendarical technology, Onmyôdô and esoteric Buddhism.
