S. A. S. Sarma joined the Pondicherry Centre of the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) in 1989, where his profound interest in ritual literature led him to prepare critical editions of various Śaiva ritual works. His notable publications include collaborative editions of the Pañcāvarataṇastava (IFP/EFEO, 2005), the Dhyānaratnāvalī (2012), and the first volume of Trilocanaśiva’s commentary on the Somaśambhupaddhati (in press). He is also known for his critical edition of the Kapilasṃrti (Torino, 2007), for his work with Jean-Luc Chevillard on the Digital-Tevaram (IFP/EFEO, 2007), and for articles on Kerala tantric rituals.
